United states
The most important time of WWII in American history would be the time of Liberation in German Concentration camps and the internment of Japanese Americans. I think the U.S. was effected by propaganda in WWII because when the threat of attack was posed on the west coast by Japanese bombers. Persons of Japanese decent in American were questioned and even feared if their patriotism really lied with the U.S. A wave of fear was sent through the west coast of America that Japan would surprise attack the states with bombing flight attacks.
- After Pearl Harbor on December, 7th, 1941; which killed over 2,000 soldiers. Hysteria struck the U.S. mainly the west coast including, California, Oregon, and a small percentage of Washington. The day after the surprise attack of Pearl Harbor President Roosevelt declared war on Japan.
Now, you're probably wondering, besides the attack on Pearl Harbor, what installed this hysteric fear in Americans of further attack and/or Japanese-Americans. False news reports were even printed to stimulate further fear into the west coast. For, example this newspaper alert was published around February, 24th, 1942. "Suspicious" beams of light were spotting in the sky above the Hollywood sign and 1942 new reports stated they were most likely to be incoming bombs or airplanes from Japanese soldiers. Of course now we know those beams of light were simply meteorological balloons, but this shows how wildly chaotic the West Coast population reacted to these false reports. - With mass hysteria circulating in the United States, especially after false air raid reports and The attack on Pearl Harbor. People began to become suspicious and dubious of Japanese-American's presence. With effort to stop this constant fear of danger in the U.S. A new regiment was created that U.S citizens of Japanese decent will be detained into internment camps around the country.
To add on to the subject of how the American public viewed Japanese- Americans. Many propaganda posters were publish in the U.S, that were quite offensive and reflected how racism was considered "normal" in the 1940's. For example, common american propaganda would depict Japanese people with unappealing appearance characteristics and even demonize them. Therefore spreading a mass deception upon Japanese-Americans, causing them to be looked down upon by other American citizens.
